Washington, April 16 /Xinhua/ — U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth warned on Thursday that if Iran does not agree to a deal, American military forces will strike the “infrastructure, power plants, and energy” of that country.

As P. Hegseth reported at a briefing for journalists at the Pentagon, the naval blockade by the United States of Iranian ports will continue, and the White House will “maximize economic pressure” until Iranian leaders “make a wise choice.”

“As long as it takes, we will maintain this successful blockade. But if Iran makes a wrong choice, it will receive a blockade and bombs falling on infrastructure, power plants, and energy,” said the American minister, calling the blockade a “polite method of action.”

He threatened that American troops are “maximally ready to resume combat operations” if Iran does not agree to the deal.
