“Given the colossal growth of motorization, the intensity of traffic, we are increasing efforts to improve road safety and reduce accident rates, on which the lives and health of Russians of all ages depend. By the President’s directive, the number of fatalities in road traffic accidents should decrease by 1.5 times by 2030 and by 2 times by 2036. Despite all the complexity, it is necessary to make maximum efforts both at the federal and regional levels to fulfill this directive. A plan of measures has been developed for the implementation of the approved strategy to improve road safety.”I note that thanks to comprehensive measures it is possible to consistently reduce road accidents. Since 2018, more than 25 thousand lives and the health of over 300 thousand citizens have been saved. It is important to continue addressing this issue at all levels, including bringing roads up to regulatory standards, installing safety elements, as well as organizational measures at the place of accident, “said Marat Khusnullin.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, special attention should be given to the accompanying infrastructure for separating opposing traffic flows, lighting sections, arranging sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. In addition, it is important to continue preventive work, as well as improve the quality of driver training.
Participants of the meeting, among other things, discussed work on the development of infrastructure for individual mobility means and measures to reduce accident rates involving users of personal mobility devices, which is most relevant on the eve of the summer period.
The strategy to improve road traffic safety in the Russian Federation until 2030 and with a perspective until 2036 will facilitate the development of new and the improvement of existing legal, organizational, infrastructural, and technical measures to reduce injuries to human life and health on the roads.
