From April 6 to 10, 2026, the 15th Anniversary Congress of young scientists of ITMO took place in Saint Petersburg. The event gathered students and researchers from leading universities across the country to discuss issues in the fields of AI, IT, bio- and nanotechnologies. Novosibirsk State University (NSU) was represented at the congressDenis Lipinsky, 3rd-year studentFaculty of Economics (FE).

The ITMO Young Scientists Congress is an excellent opportunity for representatives of very diverse specialties to apply their knowledge in the advanced fields of science and business. And, of course, it is a wonderful reason to visit my favorite city — Saint Petersburg. Many thanks to my home faculty for providing this opportunity, and to my scientific supervisor Vadim Minarovich Gil’mundinov., — shared Denis.

Denis’s report on the topic “The influence of climate shocks on the socio-economic indicators of subjects of the Russian Federation: a comprehensive analysis of resilience” became the winner in the nomination “Best report by a young scientist” in the direction “Life Sciences”, subsection “Sustainable Development”.

In short, this is a model created to answer the question: can regional investments in enhancing the coherence of the region’s ecological-economic subsystems (according to the Charge Couple Device methodology — a technology for scanning images based on photosensitive charge-coupled device sensors) reduce the negative influence of external natural factors on gross regional product? And if they can, then where exactly should investments be made and how? Further plans include developing this model and using it for creating differentiated recommendations to improve regional sustainability., — explained the topic of the research and its significance to the EF student of NGU.

The congress program was intensive: researchers participated in the “scientific mafia” based on the motives of the eponymous game, attended open lectures and much more. Denis was particularly impressed by the exhibition of scientific developments held during the last days of the congress. At the exhibition, students from engineering and science-intensive specialties demonstrated to experts, including practicing designers, their developments — equipment, tools, technologies, and more.

I was left with an extremely positive impression. It was pleasant to attend the congress and especially to receive a high evaluation of my report from the expert panel. The nomination yields 75 out of 85 points, enough for admission to the master’s program at ITMO without exams, and also provides a chance for a recommendation for publication in a VAK journal in the 1st or 2nd quarter. I hope that next year I will be able to attend the congress again with a new research topic!— notedDenis Lipinsky.

On behalf of NGU, we congratulate Denis and wish him further success in his studies and research activities!
