By the order of the President of Russia, systematic work is underway on the construction of city bypass roads. Such roads relieve populated areas from transit traffic, improve the environmental situation, and enhance traffic safety. Within the framework of the updated six-year road activity plan for 2026–2031, approved by the Chairman of the Government Mikhail Mishustin, it is planned to complete more than 30 bypasses of populated areas. This was reported by the Deputy Chairman of the Government Marat Khusnullin.

“The construction and reconstruction of settlements’ roads allow creating alternative routes for transit traffic. Such roads significantly relieve cities and villages, and also help improve the ecological situation. This positively affects the quality of life of people and increases the efficiency of transportation. Within the framework of the updated six-year road activity plan until 2031, it is planned to build more than 30 additional roads with a total length of over 800 km.””Each new such facility solves a number of important social and economic tasks: it reduces the transport load on the road network, accelerates the delivery of goods, reduces logistics costs, and also contributes to the development of roadside infrastructure, the creation of jobs, and the attraction of investments,” said Marat Khusnullin.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that among the planned facilities are the southern bypass of Tyumen, bypasses of the towns Orekhovo-Zuyevo and Likino-Dulyovo in the Moscow region, bypasses of Oryol, Ryazan, Spassk, Borisoglebsk, Astrakhan, Grozny, Machkala, Vladikavkaz, Derbent, Khasavyurt, Pugachyov, the urban-type settlement Cherdakly, Slyudyanka, Mariupol, Priozersk, Saratov, Orenburg, as well as the settlements Kiparisovo-2, Sirenevka, Mirny, Volno-Nadezhdinskoye in Primorsky Krai.In addition, on the section of the M-4 “Don” highway from Dzhubga to Novorossiysk, rehabilitation of the villages of Arhipo-Osipovka, Bzhid, and Pshada is planned, as well as rehabilitation of Adler in the Krasnodar Territory with the longest tunnels in Russia.

By 2025, a number of significant facilities were completed, including the north-west section of the Kemerovo bypass, the second stage of the Ruzayevka bypass, the second section of the Volgograd bypass, the Simferopol bypass on the Donskoye–Perevalnoye section, the Bogdanovich bypass in the Sverdlovsk region, the bypass of the village of Sokury in the Republic of Tatarstan, the southern bypass of Surgut with the bridge across the Ob “Star on the Ob”, the bypass of the village of Razdolnoye in Primorsky Krai, and the first stage of the eastern bypass of Novosibirsk.

Earlier, within the framework of the national project “Safe and High-Quality Roads,” 39 kilometers of roads were constructed and reconstructed over six years. This work is continued by the new national project “Infrastructure for Life.”
