Former Deputy Head of China’s Military Industry Enterprise Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison for Bribery

Chengzhou, April 14 /Xinhua/ — Liu Weidun, former deputy general manager of China South Industries Group Corporation — one of the leading enterprises in China’s military industry — was sentenced on Tuesday to 13 years in prison on charges of bribery.

Such a verdict was issued by the People’s Court of intermediate level of the city of Nanyang, Henan Province /Central China/.

According to the verdict, the defendant was also fined 4 million yuan (about 587 thousand dollars, USA), and the illegally obtained monetary funds are subject to confiscation.

The investigation established that from 1999 to 2025, Liu Weidun, holding various positions, abused his official powers, assisting other individuals in activities such as corporate affairs and career advancement, in return for bribes exceeding 41.39 million yuan.

He appeared before the open court on January 16 of this year, where in his last words he admitted guilt and repented for what he had done. -0-
