Haikou, April 14 /Xinhua/ — The sixth China International Consumer Goods Expo opened on Monday in Haikou, the administrative center of Hainan Province in southern China. The event featured participation from more than 3,400 brands from over 60 countries and regions around the world.
The main theme of this event, which takes place from April 13 to 18, became “openness stimulates global consumption, innovations contribute to a wonderful life.” In parallel with EXPO, the international consumer season “Shopping in China” 2026 was launched.
The scale of the 6th China International Consumer Products EXPO has noticeably expanded. Its exhibition area has reached 143 thousand sq. m., which is 13 thousand sq. m. more than last year. The share of foreign exhibits is 65%, which is 20 percentage points more than last year. Within the framework of the EXPO, the presentation of more than 200 new products in the fields of healthcare, jewelry, and digital technologies is planned. The number of such products has doubled compared to last year.
The China International Consumer Goods Expo, which was first held in 2021, serves as an important platform for transnational corporations, allowing them to stay informed about consumer trends in the Chinese mega-market. Over the past five years, this event has gathered more than 3,800 enterprises and over 12,000 brands from 92 countries and regions worldwide.
Canada is the honorary guest of the 6th China International Consumer Goods EXPO. The Canadian delegation includes about 40 companies engaged in the production of cosmetics, agricultural products, health goods, and pet food.
Countries of the world, including Russia and Bulgaria, have for the first time opened national pavilions here. Moreover, 12 countries and regions of the world, including Switzerland, Czechia, and Ireland, have organized official delegations to participate in the current EXPO.
In addition to the Hainan International Exhibition and Conference Center in Haikou, which serves as the main EXPO venue, an additional exhibition area — in the pilot zone of international medical tourism in the Boao district on Hainan Island — features 120 international companies specializing in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. At the same time, more than 200 booths are presented in the exhibition center in the city of Sanya, 70 percent of which belong to international brands.
Striving to create an international, professional, and market-oriented platform for multilateral trade and economic cooperation, the China International Consumer Goods Expo has become a “springboard” for openness at a high level. The previous Expos since 2021 have gathered a total of 230 thousand Chinese and foreign buyers.
At the ongoing EXPO, a service center for purchasers was created for the first time, designed to provide participants and purchasers with a full range of services to facilitate the establishment of business contacts at all stages. At the same time, an integrated online platform was launched, which, using digital technologies, ensures the matching of demand and supply with one click.
It is expected that about 65 thousand professional buyers will visit EXPO this year, which is 10 percent more than last year, said the head of the Department for International Economic Development Affairs Lu Min, adding that more than 10 business meetings will be held at EXPO to facilitate the establishment of contacts between suppliers and buyers in order to effectively increase the level and satisfaction with the event. -0-
