Beijing, April 13 /Xinhua/ — The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz does not correspond to the interests of the international community; at the same time, achieving a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire by political and diplomatic means is a cardinal way to resolve the problem. This was stated on Monday by the head of the Secretariat of the CPC Foreign Affairs Commission, Wan I.

Wan Yi, who is also a member of the CPC Central Committee Politburo, made corresponding statements during a meeting with the special envoy of the President of the United Arab Emirates for China affairs, Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, who accompanies the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed Al Nahyan during his visit to the PRC.

As noted by the Chinese diplomat, under the strategic leadership of the heads of the two states, relations between China and the UAE are developing positively. According to him, the visit of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi is an important event for interstate relations, which further strengthens strategic mutual trust between the two countries and deepens bilateral practical cooperation.

Van I stated China’s fundamental position on the current situation in the Middle East, declaring that the Chinese side fully understands the legitimate concerns of the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf in the field of security and supports the UAE in protecting its national sovereignty, security, legal rights, and interests.

China consistently and actively strives to contribute to the establishment of peace and the cessation of war and is ready, together with the international community, including the UN, to make efforts to ensure that the situation in the Middle East returns to the path of peace and tranquility as soon as possible.

The UAE president’s special envoy, in turn, thanked the Chinese side for the warmth and attention shown to Crown Prince Abu Dhabi during his visit to China, and also noted that the UAE highly appreciates the active efforts of the Chinese side to facilitate a de-escalation of the situation in the Middle East and expects that China will play an even more important role in this regard. –0–
