London, April 12 /Xinhua/ — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said called on the US and Iran “to find a way out” of the current situation during a phone conversation on Sunday.

As stated in the statement of the British Prime Minister’s residence at Downing Street, discussing the recent American-Iranian negotiations that took place in Pakistan, the leaders of the two countries agreed that the continuation of the ceasefire regime is of vital importance and all parties should avoid further escalation.

On the same day, the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Health, Wes Streeting, called the fruitless negotiations “disappointing,” while noting the importance of further diplomatic efforts.

As stated on Sunday after the negotiations by US Vice President Jay Dee Wance, a key issue for both sides is Iran’s readiness to demonstrate a stable commitment to refraining from developing nuclear potential not only in the near future but also in the years to come.

Together with the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim, it was reported that “excessive demands” from Washington interfered with the development of the framework and the achievement of an agreement.
