“KAMAZ” and the official partner company – LLC “Kuzovostroitel” – have launched a new generation K5 chassis-based car carrier on the market. The new specialty vehicle model was presented at the Saint Petersburg International Ecological Forum “Ecology of a Big City.”

The new product is based on the high-tech four-axle chassis KAMAZ-65951 of the latest K5 generation. The choice of this platform by the specialists of “Kuzovstroyitel” for the new tow truck model was dictated by its exceptional technical characteristics.“There are increasingly more heavy road trains, quarry equipment, and overloaded trucks on the roads. When such vehicles get into accidents or break down, standard tow trucks are unable to handle them. Responding to market demands, we decided to develop a tow truck capable of working with extreme weights – up to 60 tons., – explainedGeneral Director of the company “Kuzovostroitel” Kirill Bliznyukov. –The partner for the project was chosen to be “KAMAZ”, with which we have been cooperating for many years. At the moment, the KAMAZ-65951 model is the heaviest-duty in the company’s lineup, so the basis of the new tow truck became exactly this chassis. It provides a considerable margin of strength and load capacity for installing the heavy-duty superstructure.

The full mass of the KAMAZ-65951 vehicle reaches 50 tons, the front axles withstand a load of up to 18 tons, and the rear bogie – up to 32 tons. During the development of the wrecker, specialists from “Kuzovstroyitel” increased the wheelbase to 6000 mm. This configuration allows for effective load distribution between the four axles and ensures stability when operating heavy towing equipment. The vehicle is also equipped with a modern KAMAZ R6 diesel engine with a maximum power of 483 hp. The high torque of the 16-speed mechanical gearbox allows towing loads weighing up to 60 tons. The pneumatic brake system with EBS and electronically controlled parking brake meets modern safety standards. The comfortable cabin is equipped with everything necessary for the driver’s convenient work. The 8×4 wheel formula provides high cross-country ability and versatility of application.

As for the superstructures, the lifting capacity of the main boom is 50 tons, the lifting capacity of the hydraulic jib is 30 tons, and the lifting capacity of the jib at the maximum outreach is 10 tons. This jib is universal, which allows transporting practically any equipment. And the telescopic boom has a reach of up to five meters and a lifting angle of 44°, which significantly expands operational capabilities.

The tow truck is capable of performing not only standard towing but also complex emergency operations, including lifting overturned trucks, extracting vehicles from ditches, evacuating cars with limited access. Thus, the vehicle can be used as a universal tool for emergency rescue operations. For working with heavy transport vehicles, the tow truck is equipped with two powerful winches. The main winch has a pulling force of 30 tons, a cable diameter of 26 mm, and a length of 80 m. The additional winch has a pulling force of 20 tons, a cable diameter of 24 mm, and a length of 60 m.The use of two winches and the presence of attachment points for block and tackle systems allows for a multiple increase in pulling force during complex evacuations. The tow truck is equipped with a wide range of equipment for working with various types of machinery. The standard kit includes wheel chocks for buses, a set of forks for different types of vehicles, an adapter for transporting semi-trailers, and a towing bar with a load capacity of 32 tons. This allows this model to be used for a wide variety of tasks: from evacuating trucks to emergency rescue operations.

The new tow truck based on the KAMAZ-65951 chassis was presented to a wide audience at the exhibition organized as part of the St. Petersburg International Forum “Ecology of a Big City.” In 2026, the event was attended by more than six thousand specialists from ten countries, including representatives of environmental services, regional legislative assemblies, ecological councils, manufacturers, and suppliers of innovative solutions. Over 40 companies showcased their products at the exhibition. The tow truck presented at the forum, based on the KAMAZ-65951 chassis, attracted great interest from visitors and potential consumers. At the moment, the development of LLC “Kuzovostroitel” is the heaviest-duty tow truck created in Russia.
