Washington, April 10 /Xinhua/ — US Vice President Joe Di Wences on Friday departed from Washington to the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, calling on Iran not to “play” with the US in the upcoming negotiations, which, according to him, are expected to take place in a “positive manner.”
“As President of the USA /Donald Trump/ indicated, if the Iranians are ready to negotiate in good faith, we are, without a doubt, ready to extend our hand to them. But if they try to play games with us, they will find that our negotiating team will be very responsive,” said J. D. Vance to journalists before boarding the Air Force Two plane.
“We will try to hold negotiations in a positive manner. The President gave very clear guiding instructions, so we will see how everything goes,” he noted.
The US negotiation delegation also includes Donald Trump’s special envoy for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, and the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. According to The New York Times, this will be the highest-level meeting between the US and Iran since 1979.
