Beijing, April 10 /Xin Hua/ — In the first quarter of 2026, the civil aviation sector operated steadily, ensuring flight safety and improving indicators, the Civil Aviation Administration of China /CAAC/ reported on Friday.
According to the data from the department, in January-March the civil aviation aircraft fleet accumulated 3.77 million flight hours and performed 1.41 million flights, which corresponds to an increase of 5.2 percent and 3.4 percent respectively in annual terms.
The total air transportation turnover reached 42.8 billion tonne-kilometers, with the volume of passenger transportation totaling 200 million passenger trips, having increased by 10.9% and 6.5% respectively.
Speaking with a forecast for the second quarter of this year, which includes the May Day holidays and the Duanwu Festival (Dragon Boat Festival), CAAC head Sun Zhijun stated the necessity of further strengthening measures to manage safety and ensure the continued stable functioning of the industry. -0-
