Minsk, April 9 /Xinhua/ — Belarus is ready to provide assistance so that peace between Russia and Ukraine can come as soon as possible. This was reported on the air of the Belarusian TV channel “First Informational” on Thursday by the deputy chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, Andrei Baranovsky, commenting on the exchange of bodies of those killed between Russia and Ukraine.
The exchange took place at the checkpoint “Novaya Guta,” located in the Gomel region of Belarus on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. Russia handed over 1,000 bodies to Ukraine, and Ukraine, in turn, handed over 41 bodies of Russian servicemen.
“We look with bitterness at what is happening today in a neighboring country, and we are ready to provide maximum assistance and support so that peace between the two fraternal and Slavic states comes as soon as possible. A huge amount of work is being done for this: logistical chains are being built to organize and ensure safe conditions for exchanges. Gomel Region, fulfilling the instructions of the President of Belarus, is ready in the future to provide all kinds of assistance and help in solving humanitarian tasks,” A. Baranovsky reported.
It was also announced on the air of the Belarusian TV channel that another exchange will take place soon on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. Since the beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Belarus has acted as a humanitarian corridor and a venue for holding complex negotiations, exchanges of prisoners, and bodies of the deceased. –0–
