We continue to share news aboutprograms “The Living Black Sea”, joint project The ‘Reserved Embassy’ fund» and companies JTI Russia, contributinggo with a sea wound and coastal ecosystem. April 2-3 took place training aimed at countering such a dangerous enemy of the protected nature, how fires. Within two days 60 participantsspecialistov specially protected natural territories (OOPT), employeeов forest fire centers, representativeей MCS, administrations of municipal entities, Cossack societies, departmentsStudied methods of combating wildfires.

The seminar was conducted by specialists from the Center for Landscape Fire Prevention, Grigory Kuksin and Lyudmila Kryuchkovskaya. The first day of the seminar was dedicated to theory: analysis of legislation and tactical extinguishing schemes in the unique climatic conditions of the “Utrish” reserve. The second day took place on the territory of the reserve, where participants practiced skills in water delivery on steep slopes with construction, reconnaissance, and coordination of units.

Fire can cause serious damage to protected nature, leading to the destruction of ecosystems, loss of biodiversity, and long-term and often irreversible changes. In the subtropical maritime climate zone, the risk of fires is critically high. PoэThat is why it is so important for OPPT employees to have up-to-date knowledge and the opportunity to practice it in collaboration with responsible services and assistants. Seminar also Facilitated the preparation and coordination of interdepartmental forces in extinguishing landscape fires in the unique conditions of the ‘Utrish’ reserve and adjacent territories. Participants worked mechanisms of interagency interaction (nature reserve, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Federal Security Service, regional services). For the first time in such a format, the link “nature reserve – regional structures – Cossacks” was developednoted Polina Grigoryeva, manager of eco-projects at the ‘Zapovednoye Posolstvo’ foundation, project manager “Live Black Sea.”

Participants from 11 organizations (including the State Public Institution of the Krasnodar Territory “Committee for Forestry”, the State Budget Institution of the Krasnodar Territory “Regional Fire Center”, the Administration of Novorossiysk city, Cossack communities) agreed on the order of actions in the event of a threat of fire spread from adjacent territories. They also applied unique technologies — they calculated and tested water supply schemes for greater heights in mountainous terrain conditions, worked out issues of using seawater in pump-hose systems without equipment breakdowns, and updated landscape firefighting methods in dry and subtropical conditions.

One of the program’s key focuses “Living Black Sea” training and professional development of the staff of the specialized public services organization. It is important that the seminar was conducted by experts from Center for Landscape Fire Prevention – this organization already won in onem from the company’s grant competitions, and we are confident in the high professionalism of colleagues“, —said Ekaterina Lyovshina, head of the social investment program JTI Russia.

According to the feedback from participants, the training was substantial, professional, and genuinely useful. The high level of speaker preparation, the accessible presentation of complex topics, and the opportunity not only to hear the theory but also to practically work through the key elements of firefighting and interaction on-site were especially noted.

For the “Utrish” reserve, issues of prevention and extinguishing of landscape fires have special importance, since it concerns the preservation of unique natural complexes that fire can inflict irreparable damage on. The completed seminar was not just a training event for us, but an important stage in strengthening practical readiness and interdepartmental cooperation. We sincerely thank the “Zapovednoe Posolstvo” foundation and the JTI Russia company for their support and organization of this necessary project, the trainer-specialists for their high professionalism, deep knowledge, and ability to convey complex experience clearly and accessibly, as well as all colleagues and participants for their involvement, responsibility, and teamwork. I am confident that such events truly enhance our overall readiness to protect the protected nature.“” — commenteddirector of the reserve «Exaggeration» Roman Valentinovich Podkopaev.
