Beijing, April 8 /Xinhua/ — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting in Beijing on Wednesday with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Van Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, recalled that last year the chairman of the National People’s Congress Xi Jinping and the King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn reached an important consensus on advancing the construction of the China-Thailand community of shared destiny, setting a clear direction to deepen friendship between China and Thailand.

Naming the princess Sirindhorn as an old good friend of the Chinese people, the head of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that she became a witness to the policies of reform and openness in China and modernization in the Chinese style, made great efforts to deepen the friendship between China and Thailand, and made an outstanding contribution to this.

According to Van I, China is ready to jointly lead with Thailand an important consensus of the heads of two states as a fundamental principle, to develop traditional friendship, strengthen cooperation in areas representing interests for Princess Sirindhorn such as high technology, education, and public welfare, and also to promote that the building of the China-Thailand community of shared destiny brings fruits and benefits to the peoples of both countries.

Princess Sirindhorn, on her part, noted that Thailand highly values the support provided by China. She expressed hope that the parties will continue to strengthen communication and exchanges in various fields, reinforce practical cooperation in areas such as science, technology, agriculture, medicine, culture, and education, promote mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and the prosperity of Thailand-China friendship.
