In March, the final stage of the online physics Olympiad for schoolchildren was held at NSU, organized by ITMO and Saint Petersburg State University. This year, NSU participated as one of the venues for the first time: the final stage held in the Novosibirsk region had more participants than in previous years.
Participants from the region showed worthy results. The prize winners wereTi on Smirenko(9th grade, Technopolis Lyceum, Koltsovo urban-type settlement),Vladislav Dudko(9th grade, SUNTS NGU) andAleksandr Nedelko(10th grade, Lyceum No. 130) — they all received diplomas of the II degree.
–The task of the school Olympiad is to identify children interested in a particular subject area. By expanding the range of such events that the university conducts on its base, NSU attracts a wider circle of motivated schoolchildren. The use of virtual laboratories within the Olympiad framework develops imaginative thinking and physical intuition.
Moreover, the format of the Internet Olympiad is valued for the fact that it gives schoolchildren from remote areas the opportunity to show themselves. Since participation is free and registration is open, teachers often use the Olympiad as an additional tool for testing and reinforcing knowledge. As practice has shown, some participants reached the final precisely thanks to the support of their teachers,– tellsDarya Serebryakova, deputy dean of the Faculty of Physics of NSU for pre-university training.
At the university, the holding of the Olympiad is considered a positive experience and further participation in similar projects is not excluded.
