On the eve of Easter, residents of the capital are invited to visit Moscow fairs to purchase festive treats. At the site, you can find products from various regions of the country — the Moscow region, Belgorod, Ryazan, and Smolensk oblasts. Kulichi, curd paskas, and thematic gingerbread made from natural ingredients are prepared not only according to traditional recipes — some producers offer their own original variations.
Yeast-free Easter cakes and honey gingerbreads
Special attention is drawn to the kulich from the Moscow region, presented at the fair on Profsoyuznaya Street, Semenovskaya Square, and Yuny Lenintsev Street. The history and production of the manufacturer dates back more than 29 years. In 2018, at the “Best Kulich of Moscow” contest, the company’s products took second place, and in 2019 — first place. The recipe includes farm butter, natural milk, almond petals, orange zest, raisins, candied fruit, cardamom, and saffron. Buyers are offered several formats of kulich — weighing 350 and 600 grams, as well as 1.2 and 2.5 kilograms.
“We have been bringing kulichi to Moscow fairs for several years now. Those who have tried them once buy them from us with their eyes closed,” shared Svetlana Krylov, a participant of Moscow fairs.
Kulich and curd paskha from a Belgorod producer can be found at the fair in Elektrolitny passage. For example, buyers will surely enjoy the paskha with an unusual and exquisite combination of ingredients — ricotta, cream cheese, and dried cranberries.
On Otradnaya Street, yeast-free Easter cakes made from premium flour with raisins and vanilla are presented. They are decorated with meringue flowers and small shaped caramel gingerbreads flavored with cinnamon in the shape of bunnies and butterflies, prepared using the scalded method.
Here Muscovites can find Smolensk honey gingerbread — a gastronomic symbol of this city — in the form of eggs and kulich. The manufacturer Irina Demyanova independently developed the shape sketches, consulting a woodcarver from the Nizhny Novgorod region. These gingerbreads contain butter, rye peeled flour and premium wheat flour, as well as seven spices: cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and black pepper, cloves, and anise.
“I love my work. For every holiday, I try to make thematic gingerbread, and Easter is no exception. The shape of our gingerbread can be anything — the natural ingredients and the pure legendary flavor from the USSR remain unchanged,” noted Irina Demyanova, a producer from Smolensk.
On Krasnodarskaya and Aviation Streets, customers can purchase classic kulich with raisins from a producer in Naro-Fominsk. And at the Moscow fair on Bogdanovskaya Street, the Istrinskaya cheese factory delivers curd kulich weighing 280 grams and festive kulich weighing 380 and 620 grams.
Traditional and tsarist pastries
At the site on Profsoyuznaya Street and Semenovskaya Square, batches of natural farmhouse curd and milk with vanilla and raisins from a producer near the Moscow suburb Petushki are presented, and on Aviatsionnaya Street — from Ryazan. Here one can also find a special tsar-curd with nuts and raisins. It is prepared in a special mold manually following a unique recipe that includes natural curd, butter, nuts, and raisins. The special aroma of the tsar-curd is given by cinnamon and nutmeg.
Traditionally, the central place on the festive table is occupied by decorated eggs — one of the main symbols of the holiday. At the Moscow fair, you can buy eggs from farms of various regions of the country: on 1905 Street — from the Ivanovo and Nizhny Novgorod regions, on Profsoyuznaya Street — from the Ryazan, Vladimir, and Moscow regions, and on Semenovskaya Square — from the Nizhny Novgorod and Kostroma regions.
Moscow fairs are a place where the residents of the capital traditionally come for high-quality and fresh farm products. Here, every supplier guarantees the quality and freshness of the goods, and specialistsState Veterinary Service of the city of MoscowThey check the products before sending them to the counter.
Places for fair participants are provided free of charge. The pavilions are equipped with all the necessary trading and refrigeration equipment and are located near metro stations and in other crowded places, which also makes them comfortable for visiting.
Moscow fairs invite cooperation with agro-aggregators from regions who will be able to represent several farms and enterprises of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation at once. Such cooperation not only allows local producers to enter the capital market, but also attracts tourists’ attention to the region, and generally has a positive effect on its image.
