Washington, April 8 /Xinhua/ — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the United States is negotiating with Iran about “easing tariffs and sanctions,” and also threatened to impose customs duties of 50 percent on any country supplying weapons to Tehran.

“The United States will work closely with Iran, which, as we have established, has gone through what will be a very productive regime change!” — wrote D. Trump on the social network Truth Social.

He added that there will be “no uranium enrichment,” while the US will cooperate with Iran in extracting and removing deeply embedded “nuclear dust.”

The American president noted that many of the 15 points of the USA’s proposed ceasefire plan have already been agreed upon.

A few minutes later, in another message, D. Trump threatened to impose a 50 percent tariff “with immediate effect” on any country supplying weapons to Iran. “No exceptions!” he emphasized.

On April 7, the USA and Iran agreed on a two-week ceasefire. On April 10, the parties planned to start negotiations in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

As reported by the Iranian semi-official news agency Mehr, in response to Washington’s plan to cease fire, Tehran put forward a proposal consisting of 10 points, which included the commitment of the United States not to allow further acts of aggression, restoring Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, recognition of Iran’s right to uranium enrichment, and lifting of sanctions.
