To enter into a civil union, Muscovites can choose a non-ceremonial ceremony inpublic services center. Last year, on average, about 100 pairs registered their relationship at the office “My Documents” every day.

“Residents have the opportunity to register their marriage in an informal setting at any capital’s ‘My Documents’ office. On average, about 100 couples registered their marriage in the state services center each day last year, which is about 35 percent of the total number of couples in Moscow. In the renovated center, we are equipping separate rooms for informal registration, where newlyweds can take their first family photos in a unique photo zone,” said Tatyana Poretskova, the first deputy director of the city of Moscow’s state services centers.

Citizens of the Russian Federation aged 18 and over can submit an application for marriage registration in a non-ceremonial setting at public service centers, as well as independently on the portalgosuslugi.rueither on mos.ru, or in person by visiting the “My Documents” office. In the second case, it is convenient to use the service of preliminary appointment booking via the chat-bot “My Documents of Moscow” atMAX messenger.

To register a marriage, both residents must necessarily have a passport with them, and when entering into a subsequent marriage — a Russian document confirming the termination of the previous one (presented on one’s own initiative).

Registration is carried out after one month and no later than 12 months from the date of application submission. In the presence of special circumstances, including pregnancy and childbirth, the marriage can be registered on the day of application submission or on another date before the end of the month if there are available spots.

For the first time, marriage ceremonies were held at the Sokolniki metro station of the BKL.A record number of marriages were concluded at the site of the “New Addresses of Happiness” project last year

In addition, all public service centers accept applications from citizens of the Russian Federation for a solemn marriage registration ceremony in the capital’s marriage palaces and at on-site locations in the cities. For this, it is necessary to simultaneously provide documents issued in the territory of the Russian Federation along with the application.
