Washington, April 6 /Shin Hua/ — The United States, not Iran, must charge a fee for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. This was declared by US President Donald Trump on Monday.

“How about us charging a fee for passage?” said D. Trump at a press conference in the White House. “I would prefer this option rather than allowing them /Iranians/ to receive payments.”

D. Trump emphasized that the opening of the spill should be part of any deal to end the war with Iran.

“We must conclude a deal acceptable to me, and part of this deal is free transportation of oil and everything else,” said D. Trump.

Shortly after the United States and Israel launched large-scale airstrikes on Iran on February 28, Tehran effectively closed a critically important global energy waterway.

According to reports, at the end of March the Iranian parliament approved a plan to charge fees for passage through the strait by ships.

At a press conference on Monday, D. Trump threatened that Iran could be destroyed overnight, and this could happen on Wednesday night — the deadline set by D. Trump for Iran to make a deal and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
