Moscow, April 7 /TASS/ — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Abdallah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone conversation during which they discussed the unprecedented escalation of the military-political situation in the Persian Gulf zone. This was reported on Tuesday by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“A confidential exchange of views regarding the ongoing unprecedented escalation of the military-political situation in the Persian Gulf region has been conducted. The importance of an immediate cessation of hostilities, which lead to human casualties and cause serious damage to vital civilian infrastructure, including in countries not participating in the armed confrontation,” the statement published on the website of the Russian foreign policy department says.

As noted, Moscow and Abu Dhabi have confirmed a mutual willingness to maintain close foreign policy coordination in order to facilitate the peaceful resolution of the crisis in the Middle East based on international law and with unconditional consideration of the legitimate interests of the states of the region.

“Some current issues of the further development of the Russian-Emirati strategic partnership in the context of fulfilling the agreements reached during the dialogue at the highest level” were also considered,” the statement says.
