Moscow, April 7 /TASS/ — In the Republic of Dagestan, over 6,200 people were affected by floods, the same number of households, private plots, and agricultural facilities sustained damage. This was reported by the head of the republic, Sergey Melikov, on the air of the NTV television channel.
According to him, 55 temporary accommodation points have been set up in the region, where more than 700 people are being accommodated. “Today, the operational situation tends to improve. In fact, it is stabilizing,” S. Melikov added.
Work is underway in the territory of Dagestan to eliminate the consequences of heavy rains that have continued for many days and have led to flooding of homes, bridges, power stations, and restrictions on transport communication in several districts.
According to the Telegram channel “Dagestanavtodor,” on Tuesday, vehicle traffic is temporarily closed on 14 road sections in Dagestan due to the aftermath of heavy rains.
A local emergency situation regime has been introduced in the region, as well as a high alert regime. According to official data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, five people died as a result of the emergency in the republic.
