Tehran, April 4 /Xin Hua/ — Since the beginning of the war at the end of February, more than 30 universities in Iran have been subjected to direct strikes by the USA and Israel, Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Hossein Simaie Sarraf said on Saturday.
As reported by the Iranian semi-official news agency Tasnim, he made this statement in a conversation with journalists during a visit to Shaheed Beheshti University in the capital, Tehran, which on Friday became the target of an airstrike by the United States and Israel.
The minister reminded that as a result of the attack, five university professors and more than 60 students died, calling the attacks on Iranian infrastructure “crimes against humanity.”
The incident occurred against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the region following joint strikes by the US and Israel on Iran, which began on February 28. Tehran responded by carrying out attacks using missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles against Israeli and American targets in the countries of the region.
