New York, April 3 /Sin Hua/ — A survey conducted by the American company Gallup showed that in 2025 China will overtake the USA in terms of the level of global approval: the average positive rating of the political leadership of the PRC reached 36 percent compared to 31 percent in the case of the United States.
In the report published on Friday by Gallup, it is stated that China’s 5 percentage point advantage over the USA is the most significant in favor of China over the past nearly 20 years.
Current changes reflect a decline in the US rating against the backdrop of its growth in China. According to the report, the average approval rating of the US leadership fell from 39 percent in 2024 to 31 percent in 2025, returning to previous lows, while for China this figure rose from 32 percent to 36 percent.
The latest results are based on a survey conducted by Gallup in 2025 in more than 130 countries, each of which had a sample of about 1,000 respondents. At the same time, recent actions by the USA in the field of foreign policy since the beginning of 2026 were not taken into account in the assessment, including the attack on Iran and the withdrawal from 66 international organizations.
The level of approval for the US leadership has declined in many of Washington’s allied countries, including among many NATO partners, with the sharpest drop—by 39 percentage points—recorded in Germany.
