Saint Petersburg, April 3 /Xin Hua/ — The development of transport corridor infrastructure contributes to the growth of trade volumes and the strengthening of economic ties between China and Russia. This was stated by participants of the International Transport and Logistics Forum held on Friday in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg.

In the course of the discussion “Trade Routes Between Russia and China,” forum participants discussed the possibilities of expanding the throughput capacity of existing routes and creating new ones. In particular, they actively discussed the prospects of the Central Eurasian Transport Corridor (CETC) project, which connects Siberia, Mongolia, and the western regions of China. “The time has come for the development, first and foremost, of safe routes, and here the meridional routes, such as CETC,” said the first deputy chairman of the government of the Russian Republic of Tyva, Vladimir Donskoy.

Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zverev spoke about the prospects for the development of transportation communication between the two countries in the Far East of Russia. “In 2022, the Blagoveshchensk-Heihe road bridge was opened. Now we are working on creating two more similar projects. We will also expand the practice of involving river routes in logistics and the provision of transit services,” he said.

General Director of the “Federal Freight Company” Dmitry Murev presented at the forum a number of developments in the field of rolling stock creation, which significantly accelerate the railway transportation of containers between China and Europe through the territory of Russia.

New New Shipping Line CEO Ke Zijing said at the forum that cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies is a fertile ground for the development of trade and logistics between the two countries. “In Russia, we are not only engaged in transportation but also invest in infrastructure projects. I hope that together we will create a more stable and practical supply chain,” he said.
