Alexey Overchuk participated in the meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States
Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia Alexey Overchuk took part in the 109th meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States. At the International Trade Center in Moscow, participants considered a wide range of issues of economic cooperation among the CIS member states. The Economic Council was chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Hokim Holikzoda.
The parties approved the interstate program “Commonwealth Fair,” an initiative proposed in October 2024 at the meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS States by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. As part of the fair, trade events will be held annually in various cities of the CIS countries, with the invitation of artisans and farmers from the entire Eurasian region.The event is intended to become an effective tool for interstate interaction, to contribute to creating a favorable climate for economic and cultural cooperation among the CIS member states, as well as to strengthen business and trade ties, and to enhance the Commonwealth’s status on the international stage.
The head of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography, Oleg Skufinsky, presented a report on the implementation of the Interstate Program of Cooperation of the CIS member states in the field of geodesy, cartography, spatial data, geoinformation technologies, remote sensing of the Earth, cadastral accounting and registration of rights to real estate for the period until 2026. Participants of the meeting were shown a demonstration of the Geoportal of the spatial data infrastructure of the states – CIS members.The geoportal has been created and put into operation, but for its effective use in the interests of various sectors of the economy, it is necessary to continue filling this resource with data from the CIS countries.
Members of the Economic Council heard information about the activities of the Advisory Council on Consumer Rights Protection of the state – participants of the CIS from 2018–2024. The competence area of the advisory council is extensive and includes interaction in the field of ensuring the safety of consumer goods and services, protecting the rights of citizens in socially significant markets taking into account the development of the digital economy, electronic commerce and financial services, other latest technologies, legislative regulation at the national and international levels.
Projects of the Concept of Digital Transformation of the Mining and Metallurgical Complex Industries of the State Participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the plan of measures for its implementation are also considered. It is expected that the implementation of these documents will contribute to solving a complex of urgent tasks related to informatization, automation, and digital management of the mining and metallurgical complex industries.
Approved is the project of the Interstate Radio Navigation Program of the states – participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2026–2030. The implementation of the program will be aimed at deepening the interaction of the CIS member states in the field of navigation activities through the large-scale commercial use of services based on radio navigation systems and their functional supplements.
At the meeting, a report on the activities of the Coordination Council on Plant Quarantine of the CIS member states for 2019–2025 was presented. The analysis of the Council’s activities for the reporting period shows that overall, the Council performs the functions assigned to it. The work carried out by the Council positively influences the development of cooperation among the CIS member states in the field of plant quarantine.
The next meeting of the CIS Economic Council is scheduled for June 26, 2026, in Moscow.
