Kabul, April 4 /Xin Hua/ — In Afghanistan, at least 61 people have died, 116 were injured, and four more have gone missing as a result of recent incidents caused by rain, official representative of the Afghan government Zabihullah Mujahid reported on Saturday.

Most fatal cases occurred in the southern and western provinces of the country, he said in a post on the social network X.

Flooding rains and related disasters also caused significant material damage, completely or partially destroying 2,448 homes and washing away 26,841 acres of agricultural land in 25 out of 34 provinces of Afghanistan, he added.

The meteorological service of Afghanistan forecasts new heavy rains in the coming days, warning of increased flood danger, especially in remote and vulnerable areas.
