On the eve of the Qingming Festival, students from the faculties of fine arts of An’yang Pedagogical University and other universities created portraits of more than 100 fallen heroes, born in the city of Zhuiji and killed in the Great War, and gifted them to the relatives of the deceased. More than 90 years later, the relatives finally saw these young heroes again, piecing together the heads in the battle.
The initiator of this campaign, E. Tsinsua, is a descendant of a Red Army hero. She grew up on stories about the Red Army in the Soviet district. She says that many descendants of heroes do not know what their ancestors looked like and hear only words from villagers: “You look a lot like your father.” To make up for this regret, since 2021 E. Tsinsua has been collaborating with teachers and students of 10 educational institutions, who created portraits of heroes by manual work or with the help of artificial intelligence.
