On the field of the first International Transport and Logistics Forum in Saint Petersburg, a plenary discussion “Global Transport Corridors: Integration and ‘Seamless Logistics'” took place. Vice Premiers Vitaly Savelyev and Dmitry Chernyshenko, as well as the Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin, participated in it.
Vitaly Savelyev in his speech talked about how Russia is developing the infrastructure of five key international corridors. Among them are “North-South”, Azov-Black Sea, north-western and eastern directions, and the Northern Sea Route.
“Today, as a new architecture of global trade and cooperation is being formed, the importance of reliable, stable, and efficient routes is increasing many times over. With its unique geographical position, we offer not just routes, but safe and predictable transport routes for our international partners around the world,” emphasized Vitaliy Savelyev.
Dmitry Chernyshenko focused on the issue of staffing in the transport sector. He reported that by 2032 there will be a need for about 220 thousand highly qualified specialists.
“Footage is a separate priority. Therefore, specialized budget places are being expanded: more than 130 thousand have been allocated for the current academic year. Programs such as ‘Professionalism’ (clusters with industry partners in 36 regions) and ‘Advanced Engineering Schools’ are being developed, including at the Russian University of Transport. Last year, more than 8.5 thousand foreign students from over 100 countries studied at transport universities in our country. Every fourth of them is a citizen of China,” commented the vice-premier.
Andrey Nikitin stated that the Ministry of Transport faces three strategic tasks that must be addressed as a whole. The first of them is the elimination of infrastructure constraints. The second is the formation of digital seamlessness and the development of autonomous vehicles. The third is the establishment of international cooperation.
In particular, as part of the course on digital seamlessness, the development of the National Digital Transport and Logistics Platform “GosLog” is underway. In the process of its creation, the task set by the President is being addressed to cross border checkpoints in 10 minutes by providing documents electronically. The Minister of Transport emphasized that in developing the NDTP “GosLog,” Russia relies on studying the world’s best practices: in particular, the Chinese platform Logink and the Indian project ULIP.
“Transport in the international dimension must operate on the principle of fairness and mutual benefit. Russia is ready to share with partners from interested countries our competencies, scientific developments, and educational opportunities. We see a huge field for mutual cooperation and will discuss its various directions in the course of the first International Transport and Logistics Forum,” summarized Andrey Nikitin.
